♥ ~ Anne and Dale ~ 5/6/1967 - 5/6/2012 ♥
The 45th. wedding anniversary is celebrated with the Sapphire. The blue of a Sapphire is associated wih the Honor, Inspiration, Sincerity, Inspiration, Faithfulness and Loyalty of a 45th. Anniversary couple's connection. It can be celebrated with the blue gem, blue glassware, a symbolic ornament, etc. This is the official definition of the 45th. anniversary, but here is mine:
~ When I celebrated our 25th. (Silver) Anniversary, I thought that was the most special one. Then the 30th. (Pearl) came, and the 35th. (Jade) came, and the 40th. (Ruby) came, and they were all special because they were the celebration of many years of our life together. I believe the gems just tell someone that this couple has earned the same glory that the gem gets ... it took a long time for it to get to be a gem and it went through many hardships to finally get to the valuable, faceted stone that is worn so beautifully. Our longevity is celebrated by the ups and downs, the happinesses and sadnesses, the patient relationship of two people trying to make each other better and the world better by their having lived here. Our mission has been to walk the road together, as friends / as lovers / as companions; and to show others that two people can love each other till the end of their lives together. Growing old together brings new challenges, takes more patience, and brings new joys - like being grandparents - and still making new friends along the way. ~
I was 16 when I met Dale and now 62, so time has changed both of us, but it did not change the love we have for each other and the tenderness we still share in our life together. We have endured "tuff" times and marveled at the "good times" ... we have been good parents, and we have been good neighbors and citizens of our community. We share ourselves with friends and our home is open ... we may not have a lot, but we have love to give and a smile to share.
So, our ♥ hearts ♥ are joined and our love is holding on for what life we have left together. Maybe we will see that Golden One in 5 more years, but if not ... well, The Good Lord knows we have given this job our best shot! When things went wrong, we laughed and stayed strong.
Our marriage is a collection of gems .... memories we hold so dear year after year. Love in all.
